Home >> Projects >> N.Pethanendal N.PethanendalN. Pethanaendal is a small village in the Paramakudi Taluk of Ramanathapuram district. The population of this village is 1035 and there are 190 households. The main occupation in this village is agriculture and agriculture based works. The other occupations are construction work, cattle rearing and as labourers in road construction. Status of Drinking Water in the VillageThere are no wells in this village. A tank here is used for irrigation purposes. A small oorani serves the domestic water needs. There are four taps which provide only saline water. Way Forward and Expected BenefitsThe villagers have come forward to create a new oorani to meet their drinking water needs. The existing oorani cannot be renovated to meet the drinking water needs as its location is not suitable for this purpose and adequate catchment area for supply of water to it is not available. They have made a request for fencing and steps to protect the water in the oorani. The Vayalagam association in this village has come forward to take up the work of renovation of this oorani and have committed to mobilize a contribution of Rs.62,500 which is 25% of the total cost Rs.2,50,00 for the creation of the new oorani.
