Home >> Projects >> Manangathan ManangathanManangathan village is situated in sourthwest direction and 12 Km away from Manamadurai. It comes under Chinnakananoor panchayat of Sivagangai district. There are 336 people are there from 79 households. This drinking water oorani is of 500m circumference and 2.5 m depth. This oorani was created through NAMAKKU NAAMAE scheme in this village. Water remains through out the year in this Oorani. In addition to that the water tastes similar to that of mineral water due to the soil type. Status of Drinking Water in the VillageThis drinking water oorani is situated in the middle of pathway to near by village and field. So, the passer by the cattle’s of the near by village polluting the water. So, the people who uses this oorani for drinking purpose is suffering a lot. They have to go for drinking water for 3 Kms away to the nearby village. They cannot dig bore well because with in 120 feet the salty water is available. If the oorani is rotected by fencing, the village people will get clean and safe drinking water. Manangathan oorani vayalagam has taken active participating to take renovation work for this oorani. Way Forward and Expected BenefitsIt Increases the capacity of the oorani to ensure the supply of water for drinking for the entire year thereby preventing the pollution of the water from the domestic use, and cattle drinking. There will be a financial contribution by villagers for 25% of the total cost by Manangathan Oorani Vayalagam (Village Farmers association). Before Construction
