1. What is DEEP?
DEEP is a one year residential development executive education programme conducted by Tata-Dhan Academy to expose practitioners/students to development management and leadership areas.
Those who complete DEEP will:
- Understand the intricate relationship between grassroots-level micro realities (including those of villages, livelihoods, rural social change, and poverty) and macro-realities (including things like government policies, macroeconomics, globalization, and the legal environment).
- Have the research capabilities necessary to identify development issues and design reasonable interventions.
Be equipped with managerial tools and techniques for better administration and decision making and also for building institutions and livelihood development activities.
- Have strong leadership perspectives and people-focused skills necessary for things like dealing with people, building teams and organizations, and motivating people.
- Be creative, conceptual, and critical in thoughts and action and take development of the society as mission of the lives.
2. Why DEEP is helpful?
DEEP is essential to get sufficient exposure to development management and leadership areas across the country.
3. Can I stay in a relative’s house?
No. It is one year residential programme; students must stay in the campus.
4. Can I do my fieldwork in my work place or in my organisation jurutriction?
Yes, you can take up field work in your working place, but only assigned activities should be performed and not your regular works.
5. Can I bring my family during the DEEP?
Yes, you can bring your family, but additional charges apply.
6. Can I go and attend my family functions?
No. Unless some serious issues are there, you are not supposed to go back to your place.
7. Will you offer scholarship/sponsorship?
No. Such support is not planned, but if you are interested in availing bank loan, we will help you in completing the concerned formalities.
8. Why should I sponsor this course or what will my organisation gain by sponsoring a student?
The students are exposed to the realities at grassroots levels to understand livelihoods of the poor communities, the issues of poverty, and the social changes happening at micro level. Macro realities such as government policies, globalization, and the macroeconomic and legal environment are oriented to them. The students broaden their perspectives through understanding the interrelationships between micro and macro realities.
The core values of excellence, enabling, equity, creativity and discipline inherent in each of the different segments of DEEP serve as the vital thread running through the entire programme. The DEEP is thus committed to grooming students into high-caliber dedicated development leaders with appropriate motivation, values, and ethics who will create an manage strong and vibrant teams, organisation development process and institutions to affect significant impacts on the lives of the poor.
9. I am coming from social background. Am I eligible for this programme?
Yes, you can apply.
10. How will you help me in overcoming difficult courses?
Classes are planned only until lunch. After lunch, students can spend time with faculty for better understanding and clarifications.
11. If I discontinue, what are the implications?
No degree will be awarded and the programme fee will not be refunded.
12. What is the payment plan?
On the day of registration, the prescribed amount should be paid. No installment option is given.
13. Are all the courses mandatory?
There are two categories of courses. One category of courses is compulsory and other category of courses is elective.
14. As an Alumnus/alumna, am I going to get any benefit?
All the research outcomes, newsletters and Annual reports of Tata-Dhan Academy will be shared. There will be get together of alumni once in a year. A quarterly newsletter is planned separately for alumni.
15. Is there any reservation?
No. Three to five years of experience in the development sector is the only prerequisite for qualification.
16. If I want to discontinue. Is it possible?
No. Unless it is genuine, it is not possible.
17. What degree will you award?
Post Graduate Diploma in Development Management for Executives.
18. Is convocation a part of the programme?
Yes, we do honour DEEP graduates by organizing convocation once in two years.
19. How will my performance be evaluated?
Performance will be evaluated on different aspects like, involvement in the classroom, presentation, case study analysis, attendance and written examinations.
20. If I want to specialize on one theme, will it be facilitated?
Definitely TDA will facilitate to specialize on the interested theme of participants.
21. Should I come with a personal computer?
There is no compulsion, but if you can afford to bring, it will be appreciated and beneficial.
22. Will you provide computer facilities?
We do have a computer lab with a limited number of work stations. Students can make use of it at any time, but may be required to share with other students residing on campus.
23. How should I prepare for the DMAT exam?
DMAT mainly contains questions related to:
- Proficiency in English
- Quantitative ability
- Analytical reasoning
Performance in all the above three areas will be considered to shortlist the candidates.
24. I am just 36. Am I eligible?
No. Age should be between 27 to 35 years.
25. I have required work experience but not in an NGO. Can I apply?
Yes. You can apply.
26. My degree marks is <50% am I eligible?
No. Overall percentage should be more than 50%.
27. What will be my daily activity schedule?
During the class room session, you will have at least three sessions, and on occasion four. Your afternoons and evenings are free and can be used for class preparations, consulting with faculty, attending occasional seminars, engaging outdoor sports, games and extracurricular activities, and other similar activities.
28. System of teaching?
Mostly courses use the case study method of teaching. The Fieldwork segment and development practice segment makes you practically applies classroom learning.
29. What are some other campus facilities?
- Multipurpose plaza for group discussion, yoga, students-faculty informal interactions and for hosting various cultural events.
- Recreation facilities like yoga and indoor and outdoor games.
- A well equipped library inside the campus with a rich collection of books and national and international journals.
- Good boarding and lodging facilities in its well-built hostel and guest house.
- Wireless internet connection.
