Encouraging a Helping Hand

DHAN Foundation has nurtured good working relationships with experts, individuals, institutions and many NGOs in the country. In addition to individual philanthropists, other contributors include the Ford Foundation, NOVIB, Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT) and Indian corporate houses. Both Indians and others, settled across the globe contribute towards protecting water bodies in India.

DHAN Foundation names each completed work after its donor. Such contributions are passed on to the Vayalagams which must do the work collectively with a beneficiaries’ contribution of 30-50 per cent of the total project cost.

Endowments

Endowments by philanthropists help build village institutions. Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT), Mumbai provided Rs.50 lakhs (Rs.5 million) as Endowment Corpus grant to Vayalagams. This donation has been distributed to the people institutions. An equal amount is mobilized from the farmers for the same people institutions. The fund becomes a rallying point for the villagers and is available for small repairs and development.
