An introduction to coastal Ramanathapuram district that faces severe water scarcity. The efforts by the government and DHAN Foundation are described. There is a case study of Puseri, a village in Mudhukulathur block, that faced serious drinking water problems and how it fared after an oorani was reclaimed in the village.
This paper was presented at a seminar on Assessment and Management of Water Resources by the Society of Geoscientists and Allied Technologists, Bhubaneswar, 2003.
