DAP comprises of 3 phases. The focus of each phase is given below:-

I phase : Initiation Phase : 2 months

It will focus on

1. Attitudinal changes

2. Written and oral communication

This phase will help the apprentices in the following manner

1. To identify the core / potential issues in the given project location and develop the framework within the structure of existing themes to address the issue.

2. Developing community Organisation skills and promoting grassroots institutions.

II Phase : Coaching phase : 7 months

It will help apprentices in

1. Understanding programme objectives, programme components, relevance of them in reducing poverty

2. Getting practical experiences of seeing a village - as a living institution in different dimensions and learning the concepts, principles, analytical tools and techniques by reflecting on the practical experience

3. To take stock the learning process and set direction for the next six months by undergoing appraisal

This phase will focus on developing various skills

1. Communication Skills To focus on developing closer contacts through effective communication.

2. Enabling skills This is to enable the skills of members, leaders and associates through specially designed trainings.

3.Community skills To have more touch with the community and to identify the apprentices with the community itself.

4.Programme skills To focus on the basic programme skills related to the particular programme.

5. Programme Management skills It is basically focus on the implementation skills, planning, monitoring and evaluation.

6. Linkage skills To focus on establish collaborations with the banks and other Institutions.

III Phase : Self – Growth phase : 3 months

This phase will focus on the Action-Reflection mode. Specific coaching areas will be selected and process will be set by the field guides. It will help to

1. Understand other NGO’s and their activities

2. Life-planning exercise to set clear goals for next 3-5 years.

3. Undergoing graduation process to get into the next level of Development Professional phase
