DHAN Foundation believes in building its work around individuals. Individuals start their work in either of the field programs. You would be placed under the guidance of a senior DHANite in an existing location. After some period (ranging from three months to a year) most of the new people move into a new location and anchor the program in that location till it reaches a people organisation stage. After that you may choose to continue there, to help in the growth of these organisations into civic institutions or you may take up new responsibilities at the organisational level. Organisational responsibilities are co-ordinating programs within geographical regions or working in functional areas like training, monitoring, documentation, etc. at the program level.

You can choose the functional area to work in depending on your interest and strengths. Each of the area offers opportunity for development of new systems and practices. Working in functional areas implies co-ordination with the locational in charges and outsiders to test and extend the ideas developed by you. After you have proved your ability in the field over a period of three to five years and if you are ready to anchor a theme till it reaches a program stage, DHAN Foundation also offers the option of initiating new themes. This provides one with exciting and challenging opportunities to experiment with new development innovations. It may also be noted that both the programs currently being implemented, started as small projects. At least two new themes would be initiated in the current year.

Over a period, working in DHAN Foundation would also mean reaching out to the sector as a whole and providing Consultancy and advisory support to many organisations within and outside the mainstream. You would also have opportunities to perform the advocacy role on many issues relevant to your area of work. You may also take sabbaticals to spend time with educational institutions or other action based organisations to broaden your perspectives. Professionals in DHAN Foundation grow from being locational in-charges to sector leaders. This growth is aided by the strong orientation both in the theory and practice of development in the area of one’s work.
