Timely Credits Sustains Livelihood

Mrs.Tamilselvi is a member of Nantheeswarar Kalanjiam from Madurai Vattra Kalanjiam. She is from a poor family. She has four sisters. Her native is Paravai, her father is a labourer in a soap company. She has studied up to 5th standard. Because of her father’s low income, she and her sisters dropped out of school. After dropped out school she joined a company as a daily wage earner. She earns Rs.10 and saves a little bit of amount from her earnings. It helped her to meet her and her sister's marriage expenses.

She got married to Mr.Ravikumar in 1994, she has two daughters and one son. Before marriage, her husband worked as a labour in the ever-silver workshop. He is a hard worker and through the involvement of his job, he has becomethe owner of the workshop in since 1996 in Iravathanallur.

Life in Kalanjiam

In 2002 MrsTamilselvi joined in Nantheeswarar Kalanjiam, the Kalanjiam members approached her to join the group. She started with a savings of Rs.100 per month. She is active in the group either being regular in saving or repaying the loan. She has utilized the loan for the purpose of her husband’s business.

Livelihood Loans for Sustaining Business

Her first loan was Rs. 2000, that amount she used for her husband’s business. In Iravathanallur they purchased land for the workshop. It helps him to extend his business with the bit of additional space. Later he purchased machines for the workshop with subsequent credit support of Rs.30,000/- thrice and Rs.50,000 twice from Kalanjiam.

He is yet to construct a building in the purchased land. He has over two lakhs worth of machinery and materials in his workshop yard. Every month when a theft happens in his neighbourhood he used to lose his sleep. To save the machinery, instruments and raw materials he planned to construct a wall fencing. So, in August 2017 she again got a loan of Rs.75000 from Kalanjiam for constructing the wall fencing. Now they felt that their assets are safe with the help of Kalanjiam loan.

Future Goal

He strongly believes hard work never fails. Hard work aided with timely credit assistance could do wonders. This happened to be a truth in the life of Tamilselvi.Her husband aims to upgrade the unit to a manufacturing company. To get it upgraded he further needs a capital investment of Rs.200000/-. After completing the current loan they have planned to get one lakh loan for the enlarging business. They wish and pray for their goals be fulfilled with the help of Kalanjiam.
