Entitlements in Emergency

DHAN collective professionals and field functionaries engaged in facilitating thus entrusted emergency government entitlements to the 18 lakh families across the 14 states. DHAN’s associated members at grassroots across the various contexts predominantly pertain to unorganized sectors, migrant tribal families, fishermen communities, agricultural farmers and wage labour were being the most affected sections during the imposed lockdowns. DHAN collective staff at their respective people institutions’ engaged in scrutiny ensuring all the associated eligible members possess the much needed documents ration cards, job cards etc., to avail the respective schemes; eligible members without the documents were enlisted ensuring their enrolments thus availing the entitlements. Livelihood schemes like NREGA and other benefit schemes made efforts in meeting the sustenance demands of the downtrodden families over the last few months succeeded in bringing harmony among communities which otherwise would have resulted in chaotic conditions.

Field functionaries across various contexts transformed themselves into frontline workers in facilitating the benefits to reach the member doorsteps wherever it is possible and ensured all the members to maintain the social distance and mask wearing while availing the benefits at the public distribution shops. Professionals utilizing their technological expertise created various social media platforms to disseminate the information across all the contexts and the role of community call centres in information dissemination to reach the extra mile and maintaining psychological harmony among the communities is a noteworthy contribution during the period.

Leaders and members of the people institutions across the four contexts collaborated with panchayat administrations engaged in barracking the villages, identifying vulnerable families to provide additional needed benefits, spraying disinfected in ensuring the hygiene, quarantine the returned migrants, exploring the livelihood opportunities to the members through government schemes and through the on-going conservation and development projects.

MGNREGA Works


  1. In Adilabad and Hyderabad regions of Telangana state, DHAN Foundation has facilitated 5381 man days benefitting more than 350 members.

  2. In Balasore of Odisha, 6921 man days have been facilitated for the members generating an income of Rs. 46.55 lakhs of rupees.

  3. In Vijayapura location of Karnataka, 2200 members eligible for MGNERGA works were identified for creating employment opportunity by having discussions with the panchayat administration.

  4. In Munger region of Bihar, DHAN Foundation has commenced the conservation and development activities – renovating ahars and pynes – in addition to constructing cattle sheds, road culverts and vermicomposting pits. A total of 15,000 man days were created for the members in all the four location of Munger, wherein the beneficiaries were credited with Rs. 40.39 lakhs.

Relief Entitlements [Jan Dhan scheme, Ujjawala scheme, PM Kisan Yojana, SAHAYA Loan]

  • In Adilabad region of Telangana, the team ensured the members the state and central government entitlements to a tune of Rs. 7.73 lakhs for the month of June.

  • In Balasore region of Odisha, 13743 members out of 14973 eligible members benefitted through Jan Dhan scheme, 19886 members benefitted through state governments’ ration and Rs. 1000 entitlements.

  • In Cuddalore region of Tamil Nadu, 4800 members benefitted through Jan Dhan scheme, 95% of the members received the state relief entitlements, 1714 members availed the monetary benefits through PM Kisan scheme, and the process of enrolling the eligible members for the respective schemes is also underway.

  • In Vijayapura region of Karnataka, 3100 members received the entitlements through Jan Dhan Scheme.

  • In Nanded region of Maharashtra, 5460 members got benefitted through Jan Dhan scheme, 3779 members availed Ujwala Scheme, 6344 members benefitted through Kissan Pension.

  • In Solapur & Osmanabad of Maharashtra, 6597 members got benefitted through Jan Dhan scheme, 2050 members availed Ujwala Scheme, 3244 members benefitted through Kissan Pension.
