Financial Facilitation through Federations

Facilitating diversified livelihood alternatives for the poor and addressing all the social development issues, DHAN promoted federations thus transcended the conventional ways never limiting themselves to be mere financial delivery platforms but as institutions with development focus, perpetuating the people institutions to be sustainable for the overall development of the member families it serves. Foundation’s enlarged institution model pitches on Institution collective with Prime thematic community institution, supported and serviced for need based expert services by promoting subsidiaries/ people institution collective on Health, livelihood, and Mutual Insurance etc. Each of these collectives with well-defined interconnectedness attempts to sustain the development by bringing continuous and wholesome benefits to poor family in the society.

Commencement of the unlock phase led the people institutions to revive their functionality with doubled vigour and vibrancy safeguarding the members through the provision of special covid loan products. Almost all the nested institutions across all the regions regularized the meetings characterized the quality with which the institutions operated post-pandemic. Savings, internal lending, repayments, credit facilitation through banks, and insurance renewals were commenced in most of the federations displays members’ adaptability to normalcy. Furthermore, the significance of mutuality and the interconnectedness among the people organizations could be witnessed in locations like Poondi and Tiruttani where Kalanjiams, Vayalagams and FPOs supported one another leading to a two-fold beneficial impact to the members in the people institutions as well as to the producer organizations.

Adilabad

Kalanjiam Federations

Six Kalanjiams in Asifabad and two Kalanjiams in Bejjur were facilitated with COVID loans amounting to Rs. 4. 30 lakhs.

Farmer Producer Organizations

There are nine Farmer Producer Institutions (FPIs) in the region with 3398 shareholders. For the Khariff season, fertilizers and seeds have been supplied to the farmers among all the locations including FPIs to a tune of Rs. 1.44 crores.

Balasore

Kalanjiam Federations

31 Kalanjiams in the region received the SAHAYA loan to a tune of Rs. 18.20 lakhs. In addition to that, 14 Kalanjiams have availed regular loans to a tune of Rs. 29 lakhs.

Disaster Response Fund

Concept seeding for the need of disaster response fund has been done at all levels – member level, leader level, cluster level, block level and associate level – which was well revered and received among the communities; the initiatives will be taken forward in the coming days for the benefit of the communities at large.

Chittoor

Kalanjiam Federations

Kalanjiam members in Chittoor region are showing great zeal and enthusiasm amid the hardships imposed by the covid-19. Kalanjiam members in Chittoor urban and Madanaplli have deposited Rs. 7.91 lakhs and 8.09 lakhs towards their federation developments, signifying the institution’s philosophy: helping to build community organizations owned and managed by the families it is associated with; thus formed community organizations will deliver the much needed goods and services to the families. Group meetings across the region have been organized as per their dates ensuring the SoMaHa preventive mantra.

Cuddalore: Livelihood Support

Field functionaries engaged in members’ scrutiny categorized the members into six categories viz., home makers, daily wage labourers, farmers, animal husbandry, daily wage earners and government jobs. Surveying all the six categories aided in classifying the members in the vulnerability meter of low, medium and high. Thus identifying categories were presented with among the mainstreams and banks explaining the livelihood revival strategies adopted by the foundation. As a result, the region received Rs. 165 lakhs as livelihood support loans from the banks and submitted applications to a tune of Rs. 309 lakhs to revive the livelihoods of all the members across the region.

Kalburgi

COVID support loans

COVID support loan applications for Jewargi, Afzalpur and Yadgir Kalanjiams’ in the region have been submitted to banks, wherein 7 groups out of 32 groups have sanctioned Rs. 7 lakhs.

Community Organizations

Besides the regions where sudden lockdown was announced, group meetings have been regularized in all the locations of the region evidently showcasing the zeal and vibrancy of the members towards their community organizations. Institutions’ preventive mantra SoMaHa has been ensured during all the meetings. Nine groups have taken internal loans to a tune of Rs. 20.10 lakhs.


Farmer Producer Organizations

Seed treatment materials worth of Rs.16000 has been distributed to shareholders of the company. In collaboration with forest department, 100 tree saplings have been distributed across the region.

Mysore

Community Organizations

Almost all the federations have regularized organizing the group meetings ensuring the institutions’ SoMaHa mantra. All the field functionaries are equipped with necessary preventive items viz., masks, sanitizers and gloves during the meetings and field visits.

Credit Facilitation

In addition to the relief activities being carried out across the region, credit facilitation to support the survival needs of kalanjiam members have been initiated across all the locations in the region.

Thanjavur

Kalanjiams: Credit Facilitation

The focus of the June month credit facilitation pertained to provide credit linkages for the needy groups across the region. Kalanjiams across the region credited with Rs. 19 lakhs of Sahaya loan in addition to Rs. 50 lakhs availed through regular bank loans and CC deposits.

Integration: Kalanjiam, Vayalagam and FPO

Kalanjiam and Vayalagam members from Tiruttani and Poondi purchased the rice bags from the Poondi and Tiruttani FPO for a discounted price of Rs.1000 rather market price of Rs. 1300 per bag creating a double-fold beneficial impact.

Credits against livelihoods

In June month, three groups in the federation were provided with Rs. 6.50 lakhs as loan amount, wherein the members in the group availed the money to purchase goats and sheep.

Madurai Rural

Group meetings

Ensuring the institution’s preventive mantra SoMaHa, group meetings have been organised across the region. For June month, 2331 groups pooled up Rs. 88.02 lakhs, and members availed loans to a tune of Rs. 292.46 lakhs (internal as well as bank loans). In addition to this, 43 groups received sahaya loans to a tune of Rs. 31.10 lakhs.

Kalanjiam Federations

Group meetings have been regularized across the region ensuring the institutions’ preventive mantra during all the group meetings. In collaboration with the local banks, 29 Kalanjiams in Kudur Federation availed covid-19 support loan for an amount of Rs. 21.09 lakhs; five Kalanjiams in Magadi Federation availed Rs. 3.65 lakhs, four Kalanjiams in Kodihalli Federation availed Rs. 5.30 lakhs and Kanakapura Federation availed Rs. 30.2 lakhs as covid-19 support loan.
